Spring JAZZ Concert at THS to Feature Original Commissioned Piece by Rachel Eckroth
On Tuesday, May 22 at 7:00 p.m. in the THS Auditorium, the Thunderbird Jazz Bands will perform in concert with 1994 Thunderbird Graduate, pianist and jazz composer Rachel Eckroth. Rachel has spent the past five years performing and writing in New York, where she has performed with some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry. Rachel recently returned to the Phoenix area and has written a new piece for Jazz I entitled "Beyond the Sky." The concert will also feature the Mountain Sky Middle School Jazz bands. THS Colorguard Wins Fiesta Bowl Colorguard Competition and Earns a Spot in the Fiesta Bowl Parade

Colorguard students Lyndsey Mountain, Tanya Lake, Maggie Klug, Kimber Farrell, Jahel Salcido, and Amber Bail were successful in capturing 1st place in the Fiesta Bowl Twirl-Pom-Cheer-Flag & Dance Competition. For their efforts, the guard earned opportunity to march in the Fiesta Bowl Parade on Saturday, December 30th. Congratulations to Mrs. Cleis and the entire THS Guard!

The parade began at 11am. on Central and Bethany Home Road and ended at 7st and Indian School, at the Carl T Hayden VA Medical Center. A good time was had by all.

       
 

Thunderbird Jazz Ensemble I Performs at the 2007 AMEA/MENC Conference!

Thunderbird JAZZ I had the privilege to perform for the 2007 Arizona Music Educators' Association's Annual Conference held in Mesa on January 13th at 2:00 p.m. In attendance were music educators from across the state, as well as a few Thunderbird alumni.

For his outstanding performance as Captain of the Drumline and for his dedication and performance levels in the jazz program, Nick Arocho was named the Performing Arts Student of the Month. Congratulations Nick!

Summer Band Sessions 1 & 2 got the 2006 season off to a good start
